Gain accurate, easy access into hard-to-reach tapping locations

Walton Tap Extension tools extend the reach of standard taps and allow tapping in deep holes and awkward locations – virtually eliminating the need for costly, special-length taps. They can be used over and over because they won’t wear out, become dull or break.

Extensions are manufactured to close tolerances with carefully heat-treated alloy steel for strength and durability. Square and round sockets conform to size standards of leading tap manufacturers.

Each tool is designed for a specific tap size. The smaller socket end OD permits the extension to pass through a standard liner bushing. The tap, supported by the close-fitting deep socket of the extension, is held firmly in position by two socket set screws bearing 90° apart on the square of the tap.

Walton Style B Tap Extensions are each 8″ long and can be used for both machine and hand tapping. They are available in the following sizes:

#0 to 1-1/2″ (1.6mm to 38mm) for standard taps
1/16″ to 1″ for pipe taps

Choose the type of tap extension that you are interested in to view available sizes and EDP numbers, or download our catalog. When you are ready to order, we’ll help you find the distributor nearest you. Here is some important ordering information to keep in mind:

Do not use the abbreviation “EXT.” on your orders. This could refer to either “Extensions” or “Extractors.”
Please note that Style A Tap Extensions have been discontinued. Style B Tap Extensions are great for both machine and hand tapping.
Tap Extensions are packaged and priced individually (except Set No. 9).
Orders for Pipe Tap Extensions must clearly specify “Pipe Tap.”
Size 1/8” Pipe Taps are available with either .3125 dia. shanks or .4375 dia. shanks. We have two different sizes of Pipe Tap Extensions to fit these. Please specify which size is required.
